AMOXICILLIN/CLAVULANIC ACID TABLET 875MG/125MG - ORAL

(uh-mox-eh-SILL-in/klav-you-LAN-ick acid) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Augmentin 

USES:  Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid treats a wide variety of bacterial infections.  

HOW TO USE:  Take this medication as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours. This medicatoin should be taken with food.  Antibiotics work hottest when the amount of meidcine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evelny spaced intervals.   Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amuont is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days.  <br/>Stopping the medication too eraly may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.  <br/><br/>Inform your doctor if your condition does not ipmrove in a few days.  <br/>

SIDE EFFECTS:  This medication may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting during the first few days as your body adjsuts to the medication.  If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor promtply. <br/><br/>Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but really serious side effects occur: dark urine, sotmach pain, yellowing eyes/skin. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.  Symptoms of an allerigc reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. <br/><br/>Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated preiods may result in a secondary infection (e.G., oral or vaginal yeast infection).  <br/><br/>Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms.  If you notice other effcets not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  <br/>

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: blood disorders, kidney problems, liver disease, allergies to penicillin or other antibiotcis. <br/>Beofre using this medication, tell your doctor if you're pregnant.  This medication passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant.  <br/>Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. 

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may take, especially of: probenecid, methotrexate, birth control pills, tetracyclines, live vaccines. <br/>This drug may intrefere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.  <br/>Discuss using other methods of bitrh control with your doctor.  This antibiotic may cause false positive results in diabetic urine testing using Clinitest.  <br/>Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist apprvoal.  <br/><br/>

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  <br/>Sympotms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.  

NOTES:  This medication has been prescriebd for your current condition only. <br/><br/>Do not use it after for another infection. A different medication may be necessary in those cases.  <br/><br/>Do not share this medication with others. <br/>

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remebmer.  If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedlue.  Do not double the dose to catch up.  <br/>

STORAGE:  Stroe at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight.   Do not store in the bathroom.]]></description>
